  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just picked Roary up from the Vets .......

Young Bun
after his op to get neutered.

Been a nervous wreck all day!

He had it done under local anesthetic (which I didnt realise they could do). He seems quite alert and more responsive than I thought he would be. He tried to explore the living room when he first got home and fell over:( but seems to be able to manage now to walk in a straight line.

Drinking well, but not really wanting to nibble anything as yet.

Vet said that he had been 'glued' and doesnt require a follow up appointment.

Best £45 I have ever spent!

:)

Awww im really pleased. I hate mu bunnies having any sort of operation. i always have the same reaction as you, 'best bloody ... ive ever spent'! It's just the pure relief everythings ok isnt it!

Lisa and the buns xx

so pleased he is ok,sounds a great way to operate on buns, under a local, will ask my vet about it,glad it went well, what a relief :D

i know how you felt all day, i dread it when they have to under even for the simplest things, good speedy recovery :D

 He doesn't require a follow up appointment ? and he had it done under local anesthetic? thats strange :?

That is all very strange. Ive just recently had blackie done and he was done under general anethestic and they used glue on him and I had to take him back twice so they could check he was healing fine and there was no infection etc. I personally would be taking him back for a check up to be on the safe side.

He was given diazipam to calm him down before the procedure and then was injected into the area with a local anesthetic. He is doing great! The vet said it was a much safer option and has a quicker recovery period.

His wound looks lovely and neat and very clean.

Vet said didnt need follow up because of the site being glued but obviously any probs to take him straight back in.

I will take him back anyway in about a week (earlier if any probs) to check him out anyway,

He has drunk like a fish since coming home though!!:D

PS Is £45 cheap for this procedure? I thought so!
