  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

thanks.x

11.5lb is just over 5kg.. I wouldn't have thought that was a lot overweight for a Frenchie: aren't they normally about 5kg? (sorry Kim, I haven't been much help :()

I think it's a little over 5 kilos

I thought fully grown french lops were supposed to weigh at least 10lb/4.5 kilos, if so she doesn't sound massive to me.

if shes pure frenchie As large as possible. Minimum adult weight kg 4.54. No maximum weight for adults or u/5 months.

oh shes a frenchie alright!!!!very big girl.i didnt think she was over weight neither.wasnt impressed with the vet though.said her eye problem was due too the roots of her teeth pressing on tear ducts.told me just give her plenty of hay????:? x

Shes not overweight for a Frenchie, but she would be for a German Lop and alot of people can't tell the difference. Does she look overweight - can you pinch an inch? ;) It could be shes an overweight German Lop? Or it could be your vet doesn't know their ar*se from their elbow
