  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Do you have pet insurance for your bunnies?

If so who do you use and how much is it a month?

I've done one petplan quote which is £9.47 a month with 2 months free

I've got Petplan, I think its £17 approx for 2, i got 2 months free and you get a discount if you have more than one pet of the same species. I think the excess is £60. I've used them before when I had rabbits a few years ago and they were very good then and very easy to claim

I also use pet plan i do recommend them! alot of people on here save instead but im not much of a saver so insurance was best for me!

I don't have pet insurance but I do have a credit card that is strictly for emergencies, not clothes and shoes.

I use pet plan for the cats was going to with bobby but since he was ill when I bought him its pointless as they dont cover existing illnesses and since its likely I will always be claiming for the one thing they wont cover and at the moment bobby cant have his vaccinations I may as well save up. So we are putting £25 a month away and I have the credit card if I get desperate. I also didnt like the idea of paying the same premium for a rabbit that I pay for a cat! And if bobby doesnt need further treatment then I have all that cash for a rainy day! I will say though pet plan were fanastic when I claimed for one of my cats

 I have my cats insured but is loads more for bunnies so I am setting up a bunny savings account and paying x amount in per month which lots of people seem to do on here. At the mo i have an emergency credit card.
