  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

baytril after tooth removal

touie

is it neccessary? Sugarplum had her op yester day and they removed the bottom teeth and gave me Baytril to give to her I thought it was strange as when she had the top ones removed they didn't give her anything :?

I was just a bit concerned that she's had rather alot of it this year!

She's doing so well after the op I got her home at 5pm yesterday and she managed to eat more hay than the other 4 rabbits put together and a bowl of veg bless her :D

i was given that for Alvin (hes just had his manhood taken away) i guess prevention must be better than the cure....

I've not had bunnies with teeth being removed, but every time I've had teeth removed myself (wisdom teeth etc) I've ended up needing antibiotics, and that's with trying to keep them clean, so I can't help thinking that it would be easy for a bunny's mouth to get infected. :?

ok I shall go give her it now, I'm a bit worried about hurting her though as she has a sore mouth :(

My mini lop had it after his front teeth were removed. I was worrried I would hurt him so put the medicine inside small bits of brown bread which he loved. Good luck. Pam
