Orio's mood

willow

Warren Scout
I recently lost my bunny Willow and she was paired up with Orio. Because Orio was never on his own i decided to get another bunny as soon as i could. Her name is pepper ( they are/were all dwarf lops). At first they seemed really great and played alot. But recently Orio and been moody and not his usual self. I am trying everything to get him to pick up but nothing is working. Pepper doesnt seem affected by his mood, but i do worry about him. Willow only died 3 weeks ago and he was very much in love with her. I let him see her body before i took her away and he seemed to accept that she had gone. Can they get depressed because of the heat as it has been very warm as well. Please help.

Has he been checked out by a vet. It a rabbit's acting out of character the first thing to rule out is a hidden health problem. A full MOT including teeth would be a good first step.

Rabbits can get depressed when they loose a partner but i would have, as tamsin said a bunny MOT done by your vet.

I am at the vets tonight with Pepper she is having her second jab VHD. So i will take Orio in as well and get him checked out. Thanks for the advice.

It could also be the heat I suppose. My two were wilting a lot in the heat. They didn't seem depressed though, just super relaxed. How is he getting on with the new bunny? Have you been giving them equal amounts of attention? Sylvia gets moody when I don't give her enough attention. b-m

I try and give them equal attention but sometimes wants some while the other is running around playing, and once they see that im stroking the other they give me a filthy look and ignore me for a while. and as much as i try and then give them some attention they wont have any of it   :?

I think you should give them both to me cus they are sooooooooo cute!!!!!

Seriously though, a vet check would be the best idea imo!!

3 of my bunnies have all been quite grumpy with the heat! One has snapped at me, one growls everytime I put my hand in the cage and the other's been stamping alot!!! They're back to their normal selves when it cools down though!!
