We’re losing Caramel :(

Sending more vibes for Caramel. I hope the meds start to make her feel more comfortable very soon.

Caramel seems reasonably well this morning. I think she had a restful night and I do get the feeling she’s pleased to be home.

I could probably use some advice on administering meds with a syringe. We did manage the first dose this morning but not without a bit of a run around and a rather cross Caramel, who likes things to be done in her own way on her own terms

Appetite wise, she munched enthusiastically through a healthy portion of dandelions but so far seems to have lost her appetite for the pellets.

Her poos are smaller than usual, is that significant does anyone know?

But all in all I’m feeling much more positive about Caramel this morning. We’ll just make life as pleasant, relaxing, enjoyable and stress free as possible for her and take it one day at a time. Oh, and, a big plus, the vet said I can SPOIL her  I’m definitely going to enjoy that.

I am pleased she seems to be reasonably ok this morning - can you put her meds on something tasty? A Shreddy or some oats maybe?

Have you seen these links?
(syringe feeding is the same as medicating, but more of it :))

I use a one ml syringe for just about everything, as I find it easier to manage :)

I mix meds with baby food for my boy who has frusol (amongst others). I use Ella’s kitchen fruit /veg only and use a recovery syringe to mix all the meds in and administer. It’s the easiest way I have found to give meds (if they won’t take from the syringe willingly, that is)

Just a quick update to let you know that Caramel is doing surprisingly well at the moment. She's back to running up to see me when I turn up with her food - which she didn't do of course when she was unwell - and it makes me sooooo happy, even when she's totally getting under my feet and rushing me to put the food down for her - I have to hang on to the food for a moment in order to put the meds on!

Yesterday she launched herself over one of the tunnels just to get to me quicker, as lovely as it was it kind of worried me because she's supposed to be calm and relatively quiet, NOT leaping over things! She is such a delight, I can't believe our luck that we got to adopt her

Anyway, I was so impressed with everything our lovely rabbit savvy vet did for Caramel, all the tests that got done, arranging the ambulance, ringing specialists and getting her back to us the same day, that I decided to design her a thank you card which will be to her from Caramel - inside it will say 'Thank you for taking such good care of me, love from Caramel' :D

The photo is one I took of Caramel whilst I was feeding her dandelions at the same time, and I can confirm that Caramel was not in the least bit interested at smiling for the camera, she just wanted the dandelions!

lovely to hear & see. Are you getting meds in to her ok now ?

I put the meds on her food and it’s working quite well although I’m pretty sure she can smell the meds so she starts by picking the bits with less medication on!

I'm so pleased that Caramel is doing well :D I'm afraid I have never had any success in trying to hide meds in food. I've always had to syringe feed them.

The card is very lovely  Caramel's vet will be very touched.

I'm doing this with Boo at the moment. I've been putting a sprinkle of fenugreek on her medicine nugget mush & she is loving it. Tried it without fenugreek out of curiosity & she was picky with it

Try fenugreek powder next time (obviously I hope Tethra is never in need of meds but you know rabbits)
