Young Bun
Hello all! I apologise for little introduction.
My rabbits are about four months old now. After inspecting the girl's teeth recently - Clara, that is - I noticed her teeth were abnormally discoloured. They were rather brown, in fact, whereas Humphrey's teeth are a pale yellow (probably too yellow for such a young rabbit, so I'll keep an eye on him too). I'll assess Clara again in the morning. I'll leave Humphrey till the post-op on Wednesday because I'll be asking about their teeth then anyway, but I just wanted to know if any of you have experienced something similar?
When I check Clara I'll look for ridges - I hadn't done that before. The teeth are not abnormal in any other way, as far as I can see. Their baby-diet mainly consists of cabbage, kale, the occasional mint sprig, Supreme Science Selective Junior rabbit food and plenty of fresh hay and water. They've also recently taken a liking to apple branches - perhaps this is the cause? When the branches have been stripped the bare wood eventually turns orange...
Many thanks,
naohren
Edit: after speaking to a friend of mine, she's told me apple branches don't usually discolour teeth. I thought as much since Humphrey's teeth are fine. Clara isn't showing any signs of pain or discomfort and she's eating normally, so perhaps it's just unusual discolouration? I'm still going to get the vet to give them both a check though.
