  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Honey off for Urgent EC Check tonight

Good news and saved you *lots* of money on blood tests :thumb:

Have a lovely evening!

Oh yes.. He was brilliant, shown me how to feel their tummies for issues, what ear cleaner to buy and how to do it, talked about loads of other stuff, obviously saw both buns.. Had all their meds, clipped honeys nails and all for £62!

So he obviously didn't charge me consultation for either bun! (Normally £52 each) Plus phwor he was pretty good looking, So win win!!

Just seen the update on Harvey and Honey, glad to hear they've both been checked over by the vet. Our bundles of fluff do like to worry us, but being so obervational and knowing them well means we can get them to the vets before a problem esculates! I agree with you on the grey hair front, I'm 31 but feel my bun has added years to me!😊

Heavens to Betsy that's an absolute bargain! :D

Now I understand why you wanted all those blood tests done ... etc ...

Haha.. You got me!! ;)

I think he felt sorry for me.. And bless him just wanted to help Harvey. Apparently he's famous and well known in GWR as it sounds like all the exotic vets we're present for his operations & have been following his recovery! Which I didn't know about, but suppose it all helps for any future bunnies ever in the same position. On the screen it shows total spend for Harvey & it's well in the thousands!! I nearly died of shock!

There certainly needs to be some more rabbit savvy vets out there! Hope your insurance or previous vets have covered them expensive bills!x

Aww thank you so much, I know it's such a relief for the moment and we'll see how he goes over the next few days.

Haha.. Bless you, and oh yes they certainly do! Well I'm quite close with my bunnies so honey has only got to be quiet and it sets alarm bells off!! I even have the vets number on speed dial & especially with everything that's happened, I'll always be one very protective bunny mummy xxx

Hiya, and oh yes completely agree with you!! It really has opened my eyes and although it's expensive, they are worth every penny. The previous vets that broke his legs are paying. We have a letter from them confirming all payment related to his legs will be covered, otherwise they can look out!!

I'm with you 100% there, I'm so close to my bunny and watch him like a hawk, seriously thinking about getting him a friend...double the trouble (and worry) but hopefully we'd both love another one around! x

Aww bless you but yeah it Has to be done..

Aww I bet he'd love a friend and Yes it's defiantly double the trouble. But although my two are brother & sister they are currently separate but very close. I let them out every evening together supervised but it's wonderful to see them lie down together & grooming looking so happy!

I can't wait to put my two terrors back together, I think it will give me peace of mind as I know they both have each other for company xxx
