  • Please Note - Medical Advice

    Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

    You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

please get your rabbits vaccinated...

Just wanted to say how awful myxymatosis is and a little jab can save them from suffering and dying. We were given wrong advice and as a result didn't get our two giant rabbits vaccinated. They had the best of everything else and were very fit and happy young bunnies. Then last week basil caught myxy and had to be put to sleep. His partner daisy also caught it and is being put down this afternoon. So so sad and such a waste of their little lives that could have been prevented. X

:cry:

I am sorry that you were given the wrong advice regarding vaccination. How awful to loose two Rabbits as a result :cry:

I'm so, so sorry :cry::cry::cry::cry:

I'm so very sorry, you must be devastated :( Thank you for coming and telling us your story, if it encourages just one person to vaccinate their rabbit, then doing so will have saved a life. Big hugs xx

So sorry for your loss. How kind of you to think about warning others though it shows just how much you care :love:

Sorry for your losses :( to lose one rabbit is hard enought to lose two to the same disease is heart breaking :cry: especially down to incorrect advice

Thank you everyone, I just can't believe they're both gone. The garden seems empty. That's right if someone reads this and it saves their bunnies and them the heartache then that will be good. X

So sorry you lost your buns - and so sorry you had such rubbish advice from I presume qualified vets who get paid a decent salary - makes me so mad. :evil:
It is not good enough to be a practicing vet but only know about dogs and cats and then pretend to know about smaller animals when you don't have a clue.

I hope you are ok ( as much as you can be) Take care. xx
