  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I use petplan for my 3, well now 4! they were great when stew got ill as soon as i insured her and without them i don't know what i would have done as her bills were over £600!!!
Costs me £22 for 3, just another one to add on now :)

hmm ok, maybe its different for rabbits, my friend cats they weren't that good with her cats.

I will have a look at what they offer, thanks

I have insurance with pet plan for both my cats and both my rabbits. It costs me £40 per month, but I feel it's worth paying. I've had to claim for my two cats, and also for my last rabbit and have had no problem. Also, with our vet, they were able to process the claim quite quickly - I think it was done electronically and we got the money back in around two weeks. If your animal needs an operation which doesn't need to be done urgently then you can also get pre approval from them so you know that they will pay out.

Would definitely recommend them.
