Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My Angora's dropped ear.

New Kit
I recently got an angora rabbit who's left ear dropped. The breeder said it dropped sometime after he got his ID tattoo, but his brothers opposite ear dropped, so i dont think that is the reason why. Is there anything that can be done to make it stand straight up like normal again? He is about 8 months old now, but i dont know how old he was when it dropped. Is there a specific reason why rabbit's ears drop? Thanks.

There are lots of rabbits who have one ear up or one ear down. There's nothing you can do about it, it's quite natural and you may find that sometimes it's up and sometimes it's down. The reason is just because of the size of the ear, it gets too heavy to support itself.
