  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worms?/vaginal discharge??????

I think that Poppy and/or Albert have worms...

a couple of weeks ago I noticed a couple of white things around Poppy's bottom, I removed them and have been checking daily ever since but have found nothing...

Today though, I've found one stuck to a poo...it doesn't appear to be moving or anything but its translucent white and about 2mm long...

Vets? Or is it something else normal *crosses fingers and hopes for the latter*

I would pop them to the vet. Rabbits do have their own (harmless worms) but if you can see them in their poo, I'd get in touch with a vet.

Perhaps you could just ring the vet for advice first? They may be able to advise over the phone.

Having had a closer inspection, I'm not sure that it is worms or anything living (and to be honest, where would they have got worms from??)...do rabbits secrete anything??? Vaginal sceretions or anything like that because they are a bit sloppy when squished??? :? :? :?

It could be fly eggs...are they like very small grains of rice?..

I would take the buns to a vet to be sure..along with the things you found on them..

also keep checking bottoms daily ..flies are already about and are a real danger to bunnies :(

When fiver was ill and barely eating his gut was inflammed and he secreted what looked like a translucent sticky jelly from his bum! What shape is it?

I think one of my buns may have the same thing. What did the vet do? Did they confirm it?
