  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ted is having dental tomorrow morning

So very sorry to read your update. I lost a bunny totally unexpectedly whilst having his incisors removed too. The shock was unbelievable. so, so very sorry :cry::cry:

I don't know what to think, I'm in shock. I feel responsible, I feel awful. I can't believe it. My poor gentle boy. I have to hide it from my daughter until after Christmas. I blame myself and I hate myself. 😢

Whilst I understand that you feel 'responsible' really, you are not. It sounds to have been an unforeseeable tragedy

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Please try to remember that you were doing your best for Teddy because you are a good carer and love him dearly. x

I am so sorry - I don't know what to say, you've had such rotten luck lately. I do know that the anaesthetic they use for doing dentals cannot be reversed if something starts going wrong - did the Vet tell you what had happened? It still doesn't make it easier though does it, maybe he had a heart condition. You will get over it, just give yourself a little time.

Please don't blame yourself. Having misaligned incisors removed is the best decision and you made this decision in Teddy's best interests, because you love him and wanted the best for him. I am thinking of you. xx

Sleep well Teddy. xx

He got through the dental work very well. His heart stopped in recovery, they did use the right anesthetic. I can't believe it has happened.. except I can.. everything has been awful this year 😔

Oh no, I'm so very sorry. Please don't blame yourself, we do our very best for our bunnies, sometimes it just doesn't work out. I dread this every time Toffee has a dental, about every 6 weeks, but it's that or leave him in pain. You did your very best for him. Binky free Teddy xxxxx

I'm so sorry to have read this news.

Sadly the GA is the safest part, it is recover that is the most dangerous.

You done everything in his best interest and you don't need to think 'what if'
