Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sneezing??? Please help me :|

Hi,
Sometimes Cookie seems to sneeze 1-2 times a day. He feels like something got in he's nose. But there is only 1 sneeze. 2 sneezes in a row does not happen.
He does not have any discomfort. He is very energetic, his poop and pee are healthy. His appetite is good.

I found a sample video on YouTube. But he doesn't sneeze so much like in this video. He does the action in this video only 1 second and 1 time. This is normal? Is my bunny healthy? I'm very anxious, please help me. :|

I think one sneeze a day is nothing to worry about. I will sneeze several times a day just because of something passing in my environment (not because I am ill) & in the same way I think bunnies will sneeze. If it were regular, there were any signs of discharge or distress it would be different

I agree with Joey and Boo that you should not worry for one or two sneezes per day.

Thank Allah! I am caring for a rabbit for the first time. and I'm too attached to him. So I'm a little anxious. Thank you so much.

Is he in his hay when he sneezes. I have had rabbits that some hays make them sneeze?

No, not eating hay at that time. I saw it once when he woke up. Sometimes it happens when he cleans himself. He was always in the living room doing this.

I normally used sawdust as litter box waste. The sawdust is standing in his room. But it's dispersing.I wonder if he is doing dust.. He constantly exposed to it. So I bought pine pellets today. But he doesn't use shavings during sneezing and he's not in his room. I just thought of the most likely allergy possibility. :|

As others have said a couple of sneezes a day with no discharge is unlikely to be a problem :) Rabbits are obligate nose breathers so any tiny particle of irritant that gets into their nostrils will probably cause a sneeze. House Rabbits can be sensitive to the smell of cleaning products such as Polish and air fresheners, strong fragranced disinfectants too.

Thank Allah! :) When it comes to Cookie, I get very worried. I'm a little too worried about him. I'm so afraid not to understand when it's his problem. So I watch him every move. I hope I get used to this situation soon and go back to normal. :D

Being quarantined in you apartment due to Covid is probably heightening your anxiety levels so it is very understandable that you will worry a lot about those you care for. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to worrying about my Rabbits x
