Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
I have recently had to worm some fosters for ringworms and that is a totally different regime altogether: you start by administering it for 3 days on the trot, you have to repeat the dose on one day every three months during the summer months and you have to do it for 2 years!!! He says the problem with the cycle is getting rid of the F1 generation....little pests!!! Also, they would have contaminated the grass so every bun in the household has to be done!!!
The dosage my very rabbit-savvy vet recommends with 10% Panacur for e-c is 0.5 ml per kg and a 28 day course.
I was wondering about worming my bunnies! how often do you need to give them panacur because every day will stress mine out too much. they hate getting medicine!!!
Thanks
:wave:Hi Alison  Things are not too bad here at the Palace  I had a scare with one of my Dutch today but she is fine now.....I am looking after a neighbour's bun who has had his eye removed and is a real poppet. I have a couple of new additions.....Rosebud, who got spayed in June and was subsequently paired with Rupert, the most wonderful little grey Nethie who weighs around 900 grams!!!! My Florence also had her eye removed in April and for such a creaking gate has done wonderfully well. I lost Hamish in January for whom I still grieve but Bella now has a new partner, Pedro, who is a young tinker! Everyone else seems to be doing really well at the moment, touch wood!!!
