  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rosy Posy is a very poorly girl :(

Oh no :( I have a sneezy bunny atm as well. Loads of vibes for your girl!!!

I remember you posting - how is he doing?

Roo is certainly brighter now, she seems to have periods where she goes downhill but thankfully she's on the up at the moment. Her breathing is still as bad, but I haven't noticed her sneezing anywhere near as much which is fab :thumb:

I took him and his partner to my vet for a checkup. They both had their chests listened to via stethoscope & the boy had his temperature taken and the vet said he's not showing any signs of infection. He's had a lot of gunk in his nostril this morning though and Jack's Jane has posted on my thread that he could still be poorly so I'm going to phone up first thing Monday morning to get him checked over again. I'm a bit concerned with what I've read about your girl and others on here with their sneezy buns too.

I'm really sorry your bunny is feeling so poorly. I've had two encounters with snuffles in 3 different rabbits coming from different breeders. One was sneezing lots of white snot and very congested and sick only 8 weeks old. The other two came from a different breeder (so didn't catch it from any of my rabbits already had it) and just seemed to have squeaky noses with a little bit of a white discharge (symptoms weren't as bad). My vet treated them with Zithromax/Azithromycin and they got better. The first one that was the worst- only 8 weeks old with pneumonia like symptoms, recovered and is now 2 years old and seems completely cured. So if you feel your medications aren't working you could suggest Zithromax/azithromycin to your vet. Some people say it causes stomach upset but none of my 3 rabbits had any stomach problems after taking it.
