Update post mortem results
We had the post mortem results an hour ago for Crystal, the vet called and kindly explained what he had found.
Crystal had had pneumonia and pleurisy it seems some time ago. This had caused lesions in both lungs and somehow these had torn and caused an internal bleed hence the reason why her death was so quick. The vet said that she would have been in pain when she had the pleurisy / pneumonia (that may explain too why she was so underweight when we rescued her), but as it cleared up this would have passed. The bleed would have been spontaneous and had an immediate affect. The vet said there was nothing that could have been done, there were no outward signs or symptoms, no treatment to 'cure' the lesions. The damage had been done when she went untreated for the pleurisy / pneumonia. It's so hard to think of her suffering in that hell hole of a 'rescue'. There is also the possibility that Crystal's sister Angel has been exposed to the same and even has the same lesions. The vet said there was no risk to her 7 babies.
So that's it... the poor little bun was most definitely failed by humankind. She was the sweetest, softest, ditsy bun who deserved a life so much better than the one she got.
