Q for rescues: What type of rabbit...

MMMM... which ones

Large bunnies over say 3kg are easy and we seem to get endless call for them. In addition any bunny(s) that are characters, come for food and jump out of the runs

Its probably easier to say which is the most difficult. That would be REWs(although it must be said they are a love hate thing and you do get some people who love them, my partner included!) and half wild bunnies.

Half wild bunnies are a real challenge, they often are extreamly timid, chew everything and just do not present in a way that is condusive to being re-homed.

Oh and must mention angoras or long cashmere's or should I say where do I start. Why anybody breeds an animal that has not a hope of caring for itself, needs constant clipping and must not get wet is beyond us. With these bunnies you are hunting for specialist dedicated owners and totally dry conditions to re-home to ---- a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!. So much so that we offer to clip such bunnies for new owners at regular intervals f.o.c in order to get over the high maintenace factor.

Personally I don't think there is a typical rabbit that is easy to rehome. I have babies that I can't move, and males and females of all ages. People all have different needs and requirements so I can't say there is any normal types here.

*wonders why REWs and blacks are so hard*

I don't know what an Agouti is though.

Black is one of my favourites, although my favourite colouring is white with black around the eyes. "Eyeliner bunnies" As I so lovingly call them ^_^

Agouti is the colour that wild bunnies have. My first two bunnies were one black and one agouti, my second pair was one agouti and one agouti and white.

Im trying to rehome an agouti sticky up ear and a [pair of bunnies one a REW lop and her friend an agouti sticky up ears for the rescue I volounteer for.

Ive had them 3 months and advertisded here and on RU and no luck
Poor bun yuns they're lovely but I guess people like what they like.

I personally didnt like REW and wanted a boy bunny but lord knows when I saw Lily needing a home and she was a REW girl I just knew I had to give her one  Totally converted now, dont know where I'd be without her:lol: She's my princess and my world revolves around her

I think its more the bunny personality that helps too but I guess like many human relationships there is always that superficial judgement

I would never not want a bunny based on what they look like. My only specification for my new bunny was she had to be big enough for Charm. I firmly believe a bunnys personality should be what's important, which is why I'm not meeting my new bunny until Charm approves her.

But I'm the same way with people. I don't care what they look like.
