  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pregnant doe help!!

New Kit
I previously bred my doe and buck together (34days ago) she has been very moody and has made her nest and I’ve even noticed her nipples getting bigger. However it is day 34 and still no babies. I went through her nest briefly to check and I am positive there have been none. There is also no sign of blood and her stomach feels very tight. This is her first litter and she is overdue; is there anything to suggest? She pulled fur from her nest on day 28.

If she goes to 36 days consult your Vet. She could have a very large kit stuck. If she appears to be distressed or is straining before day 36 consult the Vet immediately.

If the Buck is still with her remove him. If he is with her when she kindles he will impregnate her again.

Don’t disturb the Doe too much. If you keep looking at her and moving her nest she will hang on to her kits. Make sure the nest area is covered so it is dark and safe for her.
