Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Poor little snuffley buns :'(

My little baby rabbits Marble and Minstrel have snuffles...:( They arrived a few weeks ago, age uncertain, after being dumped in my garden, (no-one knows who they came from, but they are here now, so my responsibility!) A few days after they arrived they were sniffing, I knew what it was, I have been through this before, with my Bridge buns Bonnie and Perdita, years ago, sadly it killed Perdita in the end:cry:.
So I took them to the vets and she said yes they had snuffles and put them on ronaxan anti-biotics, because she said baytril and such could ruin their tiny bodies, we estimate they are only around 8-9 weeks old... after a few days it seemed they were getting better, so we continued the treatment, so we could be rid of it. But then they started being really snuffley, so back to the vets we went and she was concerned.
They are really thick with mucus, so are on a decongestant, plus more ronaxan and we are giving them steam therapy too. She took a nasal swab to see what we are dealing with, if they don't respond soon she is going to put them on baytril, even though she doesn't like the idea.
I am not sure what the future holds for these darling babies, does anyone have any experience of snuffles in baby rabbits and them surviving?
