  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Need some urgent advice regarding Denzi, our Dwarf lop. U/D He's gone

Hi all, many many thanks for all your kind words and condolences, it really means alot to us. When i went to the vet tonight to pick the little man up the vet was almost in tears, it must be a man thing, 2 6ft+ blokes with our poor baby wrapped in a towel in his travel box. I'm absolutley confident he did everything he could to fix the little man.
HH, we will definatley be looking at re-homing a rescue, his sister Dee is already missing him loads and i know that she won't survive without a partner. She's had time with him tonight when we layed down his body in the pen in his home.
He's staying with us tonight, in our room, in his little box laden with hay and his favourite herbs. Need to sort out tomorrow, his cremation etc, not sure how to handle it...
Absolutley gutted to be honest, he was the sweetest rabbit. My partner has taken the news really badly, it's amazing how close you become attached to house rabbits over the years, she likened this feeling to the death of her grandma which says something about the closeness we had with our little man. I've just got a constant pain in my chest thinking about him.
Again, can't type without welling up, so thanks again

There's nothing anyone can say, but I know from experience how much it helps to be able to come on here at times like this and know that folk will understand exactly what you are going through. I'm so sorry.:(
