  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxi Vac

i just asked yesterday actually at the vets in the next town where oliver(my cat) is being treated. it loads more expensive i was quite shocked! £25 for each vax and consult on top of that so for bill & ben it would be £135 ish for both vacs.... i will probably do a bit of ringing about now as this has got me wondering about the different prices we are all paying....and im booking them in at my local;) i dont mind paying to see a specialist vet when we need to but i resent paying top whack for routine treatments.

Bif, Bertie and Wilow went for their myxi bosters today and the vet checked them all over..spent longest with willow but i thinkits cos shes so big and friendly!

all 3 had their myxi jab and ahealth check before their jab..i paid £49 alltogether.

can i just say whatever it costs get it done...i lost my beloved Tilly to mxy yesterday she had to be put to sleep. Unfortunatly it can still be fatal even with a vaccine, but not as much of a risk as there is without vaccine..............

:( i know i read youre post...im so sorry.

i know my paents did this with a dog we had when i was really young the lady said shed had her jabs but my parents didnt have her boosters done and she died horribly of hepatitis and we had to wait 2 days for my dad to get back off the road to have her pts..i was 4 and ive never forgotne it..btw this was out in africa in 1970!

where i used to live we had our at kiled on the motorway and when we got our two kittens after that i didnt have them done til they were almost 3 as i figured they wer more at risk with he road....till felv killed many unvacinated cats just a minues walk form our road and beyond. lucky we did a few months later my neighbour tookon 3 cats to get em healthy and rehome ( mmm she sold them for her own pocket it turned out!) and they had flu and our tom got flu even with ajab but without the jab hed have died.

sadly the costs of a vaccination is nothing to the cost of losing a beloved pet..but it happens for all sorts of reasons.

and don't i know it.....
i spent all my income support yesterday on transport to the vets and for tilly to be put to sleep, i wish it could have been for her to have the vaccine....
i then had to try and explain to my 3yr old son where she is

Sorry to hear about Tilly.

I just paid £43 for 2 Myxi Vacs and both bunnies also had what seemed to me like a thorough checking over

Awww...I'm sorry for your loss :( xx

Had Honey Mxyi jabbed last week and it was £14 including consultation, for the VHD it's £45

He said they have a new improved one that has 5 dosage's in each pot. The vaccine only has a 2 day shelf life and once cracked it only lasts 4 hours. So i could pay £45 for one vaccine out of it or get a group of 5, and split the £45 5 ways!

anyone heard of this?
