Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

The sweet boy rabbit that was an attempted bond with Bing has been diagnosed with megacolon, apparently he is all skin and bones.

Idk tbh :(

Jane will know probably. Atticus has megacolon, we just manage it, he's underweight too.. We was doing fine til his last flare up, now I'm struggling to get the weight back on him..

I will say one thing. He's happy in himself, he doesn't look sad, has a great time tbh.. Its just challenging to manage, and a lot of cleaning up [emoji51]

If he was bonded with another bun, both their diets will have to alter too :(

Thanks. No he is single, not sure if he is still up for adoption. He really is a very sweet bunny, only 7 months old, so young.

I see he is up for adoption and they have explained his condition.

Hope Atticus manages well. Xxx
Thanks xx

Yea it's sad, like I'd love to find Atticus a friend with the same needs.. But megacolon seems to massively vary with what they need so I don't think you ever truly find two the same.

I hope the bun finds a dedicated home that's ready for it all.. It'll probably make him hard to re home tbh :(

It is a lifelong condition that can cause numerous symptoms and requires a lot of day to day management- finding the right diet (usually pellet free) for the specific Rabbit, treating symptomatically for stasis episodes, ensuring good hydration. Rehoming a Rabbit with the condition would have to be to a very Rabbit savvy home only, IMO. Personally I would not rehome him until he has been established on a feeding regime that keeps him stable for as long as possible.

I know they are working out his diet now. I expect they would want an experienced owner.

When Bing was on ARC, there was a serious enquiry but Gill decided she wasn't suitable and I said to James we can't give him up.

Thanks xx
