  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Loads of jelly came out of Grim! *now with pictures*

He's so much more relaxed now. You can feel it when you stroke him. All the tension's gone. Looks like we might be on the right track. :)

Boris has had something like this, although definitely not to that extent! How did those things even fit inside his nose??? Poor boy! :( Glad he's feeling a little better now though, sending vibes xxx

Oh my God!!   poor boy!!! Definitely better out than in!!! Sending mega vibes and noserubs x

I've heard of mega esophagus, and mega colon. I reckon Grim must be the 1st to have mega nostrils:shock::shock:

How is he today Jenova?

wow that is a big bogey! Hope he is feeling better though after that although I'm sure he does. No wonder he was breathing through his mouth with all that gunk blocking his nose poor fella.

I don't know if this is of any use but I have had sinusitis and otitis media over the past few weeks. My doctor, who dabbles a lot in herbal medicine, suggested taking the herbal remedy Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis). Together with a nasal spray the mucous build up in the sinuses has cleared significantly. I don't know whether it would be as effective for rabbits or even if they could have it, but someone might be able to help.

I really hope Grim gets some lasting relief after getting rid of that lot.

Wow, made me gag a little and I am not squeemish... never seen anything like it!!

How is he doing today?
He must have felt better having that lot out of him.

I'm becoming really interested in herbal medicine thanks to Thumper. They have several answers to problems orthodox medicine can't solve.
For your particular problem Lobo, I've had a similar problem, & discovered 2 things by accident.
A short course of ABx eye drops (choloramphenicol) & lying down flat afterwards gets rid of any infection but gosh it tastes foul in the mouth.
Also when I was nebulising Benjie on my knee with N saline, I got some of it too, & it's cleared my upper airways a treat. It's just a case of finding the right combination which works.

Unbelievable!!!!:shock::shock: I was expecting little white specks like what V sneezes out - we call them lumps... Nothing like that!!!
