  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What does everyone think about this? Got some from the vets as having a problem giving panacur. Vet said it was more palatable. Reggie took it fine but then decided not to swallow the second half of his dose and let it all dribble out of his mouth and on to me. Ruby has to have 2 and a half syringes full so it was a nightmare giving if to her. I might have to try putting it on food but I don't think she will fall for it as she has never done so before.

Does anyone find it better and easier than panacur?

I much prefer lapizole, i find it easier to give, the rabbits prefer it and i think its cheaper than panacur as a bottle will last a lot longer than 1 syringe of panacur especially as i have 4 rabbits to do, i would need a box of panacur per bunny! :)

Both me and my bunnies prefer Lapizole, they all hate panacur and it was a fight to make some of them take it. They like the taste it seems of the Lapizole.
