I am right about Kizzy- medical question.-not good news, post 28.

Poor Kizzy, I'm sure you are doing everything possible for her. It was such a big op for an old bunny its probably exhausted her, I'm sure she will pick up soon with all your care and attention :)

Thanks, just back from work.
She is eating more spinach and her ears are up (don't know if that means anything), lots of droppings and quite bright eyed. Trying to catch up with the vets, but they have had a lot of emergencies in today.

Just spoken to my vet, she's spoken to an exotics, including rabbits, specialist. They have never heard of anything like Kizzy has!
The suggestion was to give a full course course of panacur, just in case it is caused by E.c.
She also said that it could be a tumour that is hidden away causing the weight loss.:(
We are going to take urine samples to rule out diabetes and the vet is going to check with the labs to see if they could do a fructosamine test on rabbit blood. A fructosamine test allows you to see what the blood sugar levels have been for a couple of weeks previously, not just at the moment of the test.
I know it is unlikely to be diabetes, but if I don't find out for myself, it will be something that will always niggle me, and this way I will know for sure.
Beyond that we are at a loss, and can only hope that the major problem was hormonal and will be better now she is spayed.

I think with blood testing for glucose/fructose the time of day/phase of digestion the bloods are taken has more relevence in Rabbits than in other species :?

Kizzy had bloods taken for a fuctosamione test on friday, will get the results this week, and she has been really bright and eating well. However this morning she's not looking too good and although she is eating it's not a lot. The vet was out to see a goat so I got him to check her over and there is nothing obvious. She's already been getting metochloprimide and fibreplex, she's aslo on panacur. He doesn't think she's in pain, and neither do I, but she is uncomfortable. I did wonder if she got a bit cold last night, it was freezing here, when I put warm snuggle pads in she went and sat on them. Could this cause her to behave like this.
I am really quite worried as she's come so far and I don't want to lose her now.

Kizzy was PTS this morning. I spent yesterday giving her fluids every 2 hours, overnight as well, syringe feeding her and gave her an antibiotic injection as she had started to pass mucus again. This morning she was very weak, although she had eaten a bit of banana and some mushed pellets of her own accord, through the night. We decided that it wasn't fair tp put her through any more and the vet came out and she was quietly PTS at home.
Thanks for all the advice and support.
