Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

how to care my bunny after neuter?

niu

New Kit
Hello. :wave:My bunny is 6 months old and she is a girl. I am just considering to give her a neuter recently. I am worrying about the care after neuter, because I have no experience of this kind of thing. thank you

by the way. how much is it for a neuter for female rabbit? I am live in Preston:).

Hi there

A bunny should be spayed at about 6 months old, so you are definitely doing the right thing.

There are lots of threads on the forum about spaying in females, you can use the search at the top of the page. These threads will give you some good information to begin with:

The price will vary a lot between Vets. It cost me £95, but this is really high, and it is usually quite a bit less than this, probably around £60-65?

Do you have a good Vets already? If not, start a new thread with the title 'Good Vet in Preston needed' or similar, and hopefully someone who lives in the same area will be able to recommend someone.

Good luck :)

Once she has had her op, you will need to keep her warm. Is she a house bunny or outside bunny? She will also need some soft bedding e.g. fleece blankets or towels so she doesn't catch her wound on anything.

Also get a good variety of food in to try to tempt her to eat when she gets home e.g. herbs, kale, spinach, spring cabbage, grated carrot and of course hay and pellets.

Make sure she has had some pain relief before she leaves the vets and she may also need some more when she is home so check with the vet before bringing her home.
