I havent read the whole thread sorry  but my answer would be that it depends on the situation.

I voted half an hour - since it takes less than this to get to my normal and emergency vets. Its important for me that a vet is conveniently located so that the whole process is as least stressful for buns and us as possible, also so that if there was a real emergency I could get them up there quick fast.

But if we needed more specialist advice, treatment or care, I would travel anywhere in the country with them if they really needed it.

My vet is 5 mins walk or 30 mins drive out-of-hours.

If I didn't have a bunny-savvy vet so close I would consider travelling up to an hour for routine things, but if bunny needed to see a specialist, and was up to travelling, there would be no limit. I made an 80 mile round trip to get my chinchilla neutered the other day

5 mins is a godsend. Where i'm moving i'm going to have vets 5 mins away but i've no idea what they are like. I was thinking about still doing my concious dentals for my bunny with mallocursion where i live now and taking him with me to stay at my sisters whilst i'm down there. He will get to enjoy her back garden full of dandelions bless him. He has his teeth done monthly and i don't want to stress him out with a new vet. It's abit of a trek, but i think he will be happier overall. Trying to weigh up if i ought best to just get him used to the new vet, but then i'll be moving again in 6 months, so he will be under a new vet.

I think i'd be happy to travel an hour on the train, not by car though as i get car sick, not sure if bunnys do :) xx

Glad you have a good vets in place :)

whereabouts are you now and where are you going to?
I'm in Yorkshire too - my vets are 10-15 minutes away but when Stew got sick we took her to harrogate to see Fhb which was an hour away

As you don't know how good the vets are in the area you're moving to, I think it's jumping the gun a bit as a question.

Potentially it could be a choice of going to a close, good, bunny savvy vet with whom you will have to work to build up a new relationship or travelling to see one you're familiar with for the same level of care: if this is the case, then I'd go closer every time. Surely there must be an equally or more competent bunny vet closer than an hour away? (edited to add: having looked at some posts about your vets including your one today, I would be grateful for the move and change. A vet who doesn't give a bunny painkiller after an operation should just be walked away from and never used again, in my opinion).

However if the competence and level of care is different, then I would consider travelling further. How far would depend on the bun, the problem and the vet. Personally I would not want to travel for an hour for most conditions, assuming the actual time in the vets is half an hour including waiting and paying, that's a 2.5 hour trip which is a lot of stress for a healthy bunny just going for a vaccination, let alone for a poorly one.

I know that one of the best bunny vets in the country (William, who Louise and Gus uses) is a 45 minute drive from me. I don't go there as routine though as it would be a 2 hour round trip each time. I go to a vet 20 mins away (not the closest to me) who I know will refer me to the other vet if the situation warrants it...and if the situation did warrant it, I would have no hesitation in driving 45 mins to see William. I think that's a reasonable compromise in the best interests of the rabbits.

I have said 2+ hours. We travel about 40mins to get to our rabbit savvy vet, Jason Burgess so i feel very lucky that he is only 40mins away:).

have done 5 hour round trips many times:shock::roll::lol:
at the moment harry is ill but i wouldnt even put her in a carrier as it would stress her too much
