  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help Sugarplum ill this morrning: she's gone

By the time I got to the vets Sugarplum had her nose in the air struggling for breath again, I think the journey stressed her out. The vet took one look at her and asked if she could PTS, I knew she would that's why i asked about the prognosis this morning. She had to be hand fed and watered and was completely immobile, it is shocking how quickly she deteriorated from being a normally active rabbit just a few months ago. At least we spent some time together in the garden this morning and I was able to say goodbye properly. She went very quickly, she was ready. My thoughts are with Splodge who has sadly just lost his third wife and is alone again

So sorry again, I'm sure you did everything you could for her and she knew how much she was loved :(

I'm so sorry! I about cried reading that. I'm glad you did get to say goodbye and spend time with her, though.

I'm going to go cuddle Alfie now, he's been sick as well. >.<
