  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Glaucoma/ Not good news

Must admit I am really gutted. I shouldn't be really she has had a great life as she has been with me since the age of 6 weeks and 9 years is a really good age, but she is such a big part of my life. I rescued her and her Mum from a childrens petting zoo when I was on holiday. Her mum was in an awful state :( But she lived until the age of 8 with us :)

I'm so sorry it wasn't better news. It doesn't make it easier because you have had her longer, it probably makes it harder. She has been very lucky that you rescued her all those years ago.

I have posted an update in rabbit chat about Summers passing today, but thought I would just update this thread for future reference.

It turned out that Summer had a tumour growing inside her eye rather than behind it. It was positioned behind the lens and had pushed it out of place causing her tremendous pain in her last few days
