I'm going to pick up a cheap paddling pool too and fill with play sand for them in the garden. The sand should hopefully stay cool if kept damp.

Damp sand will also tend to fly in clumps as they dig, less likely to be fine particles to get into eyes etc.

I didn't even think of that

They have their dig tray in the house full of play sand now which they're using as I can see the cute paw prints in the sand
