Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fur loss

My burberry (Continental) has had something very similar. He has had such a bad moult this year but I think part of it is because he was neutered around moulting time which has made it worse. He had bald spots around his head but it has grown back and his new fur is almost identical to his skin colour which is a silvery grey. I have been pulling tuffs out too as they are just hanging there and poking out. He is struggling to shed the top of his back and around his bottom area. He looks so weird at the moment a bit like a designer poodle! The new fur around his head is absolutely stunning, it is so soft like velvet and his fur colour is beautiful. so i expect the very same thing is going on with your Bun. xxx

Thank goodness I've found this thread (thanks for the heads up, SJH)! (I've just posted that "I think I've plucked her bald by accident"). What a relief! Looks like she's not the only one having a startling moult this year then, phew!

I was just going to link it but you got there first!

I'm pleased to report his Lordship now has a lovely, soft new coat.

Hopefully, beautiful velvet will return soon :)

Thank you :). I haven't dared to tease any out today! x

I posted earlier in this thread about my Rex Buck. He is still developing even more holes of missing fur and looks very odd  There are certainly some serious moults going on this year.
