  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

front paw flicking

Awww thank you.
We seem to have found the combination of Marbocyl and Engymycin (after trying Baytril, Septrin, Flagyl and Penecillin in various combos ) to be the most sucessful, his sneezing is less, he has less white snot, although he is still holding his ear down, it is early days yet, but fingers crossed we have foud the magic combo!

I hope your little man gets better soon too.

My vet always says "buys a bun from PAH and get pasturalla Free of charge"
I work in the Companion Care Vets and saw this little dude being poorly in the PAH "isolation room" so I took him home with me to "foster" until he got better. I failed, he is now staying!!

Harry,my bun was actually "up for sale"with pasturella (+ underweight, bites, scratches,an unidentified lump above his eye etc)I just had to have him as i was so worried about what might happen to him although i knew i might be in for a hard time getting him better.PAH were shamed into paying for his treatment but it wasnt really the point. He responded well to all treatment but mostly to lots of love-somone on his side for the first time in eight months.Glad you kept your little chap-sounds like he landed on his paws!!Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you.;)thankyou for the advice

Definitely discuss the paw flicking with your vet. They can check it out and make sure it's not something unrelated eg a wonky nail.

Thanks Tamsin,it seems to have almost stopped!(I got alittle side side tracked with this thread but had lots of useful information!)Ithink the flicking was due to him being so annoyed with me for giving him his meds-a way of him venting his frustration.Hes feeling alot better today and the vet couldnt see any probs with his paws but will keep an eye on them.
