  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Flopsy is poorly- U/D 10th May.

Continuing to send vibes for dear wee Flopsy (((((((((Healing Vibes))))))))))
I know the weight is worrying, but try not to think about it too much. Mimzy spent years at that weight and even dropped to 1.7-1.6, but only recently, after a year of head tilt and it's residual effects, has bounced back up to 2.2 kg! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor as I don't know how he did it...he hardly eats any hay and prefers veggies/pellets/hay cupcakes and such.
He isn't a big exerciser, but he has plenty of room to do so if he wishes...so I think sometimes they just fluctuate and it's not necessarily related to illness. How old is Flopsy now? Mimzy is around 6 years.
Thinking of you and hoping the meds work well for your dear bun. xxxx

Thank you MimzMum :)

I am glad Mimzy is doing well and he managed to gain weight after being poorly. Flopsy was 6 back in January this year so he is getting a middle aged man now x
