Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Face twitching after tooth extraction

I have a 3 year old netherland dwarf. He just had his tooth extracted and I have started observing that his lip and cheek twitches. He looks fine with no other issue but I wanted to see if I should be worried?

Please let me know your experience.

As this thread is 7 years old you may not receive a reply from the OP as I am not sure if they still visit the Forum. I have asked a Moderator to make your post a new thread, you are likely to receive more answers that way.

With regards to your Bunny’s ‘twitch’ there are a few possible causes, for example some nerve damage might have been caused when the tooth was extracted. But only another full examination by a Rabbit Savvy Vet will ascertain exactly what is going on and if any additional treatment is needed. So I would advise you to contact your Vet again .

Good luck :)

I’ve moved your post to it’s own thread. I would also advise contacting your vet.
