Cruelty case-warning upsetting pictures

Oh the poor little girl  So pleased she is safe now.

You can get Fibrefirst sticks from Pets at Home.:thumb:

A 28 day course will successfully eradicate the parasite E.Cunciculi. You can buy Panacur quite cheaply online and also from vets' surgeries. I don't think it's overly expensive there either.

It's the Panacur 10% liquid you need at a dose of 0.2ml per kg. The 9 day course is sold as a worming treatment but isn't really long enough to completely eradicate E.C.

You will also need to clean the litter trays with a 10% bleach solution on days 21 and 28 of treatment and steam clean the carpets and other areas.

Ok thank you. I will order some of this so it is ready for her to be treated with. We already have a steam cleaner so that's handy.

That the one?

Yes that's exactly what I meant!

I got mine here, which I found better value:

You have to input your pet's details but it's no bother ...

Good luck :thumb: The video of her looks lovely:love:

Poor little sweetheart, her poor legs look so very thin in the video :( But you're right, she does look full of life  Onwards and upwards for this little one now. :thumb:

I don't think I've ever seen a thinner looking rabbit! Thankyou for sharing the pictures: a real eye-opener. Good luck with her!

*Personally* I wouldn't Panacur unless there are symptoms of E.C. present.

That's interesting. Is that because of her current condition? I just worry as in the future I will try and bond her with my two. Or am I worrying unnecessarily?

I would want to give her a 'one off' 28 day course, as I do for all new intakes (as advised by my Vet). I would check with your Vet though :)

There is lots of conflicting advice regarding worming, my own vet always told me that routine worming was not necessary unless signs of E.C. are present as it merely acts on symptoms but does not prevent infection once the course has been completed.

None of mine were ever routinely wormed.

If you are thinking of bonding her with your two existing rabbits, then ideally all rabbits should be given Panacur at the same time (or not at all). Reason is, if you treat one but not the others, and they have the parasite (without symptoms) then they will pass it back to the rabbit who has been already treated. You will be back to square one.

I do not routinely worm my rabbits, even new intakes. I suggested it as your rabbit has been sitting in her own urine for so long and her immune system could well be very compromised right now.

Bless her. Love the name Trudy for her and its meaning. So glad that she is with you now. I reakon that she will grow to a good size once she puts her weight back on. She seems to have long leggies and big feet although that may just be because of her thin thin body.

Poor girlie. :(

Personally I'd treat for EC straightaway - weight loss is a major symptom, and although it may be diet-related it may well not. Also, without wanting to alarm you, in the second pic her head looks very slightly tilted. That may be my imagination or just how she was sitting at that moment, but when you've got an underweight rabbit from insanitary conditions and possible head tilt I'd check with vet and go straight for treatment if at all possible, IMO, no disrespect to those with different views.

She's very lucky you found her.

Oh my I am soo shocked to see the video of her. Poor poor pet. I have never seen a bun soooo skinny before. So glad she is in ur care. And yes despite her skinny Ness she does seem very full of life . Sending so many vibes for her. Will be following her progress.
