  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Coco

so, just an observation.... if you went to the vets about those then you might have to mention that before you got insurance, but if you got insurance now and then went to the vets about it.....

Yes, I realised that. It is vital you find an Exotics specialist or a rabbit savvy vet: I was hoping someone could suggest good vets they have used, as members are spread far and wide, but I guess you don't want to disclose your area, so I'll leave it with you.

Oh sorry I'm from Cardiff. I've got a rabbit savvy vet local to me that was recommended on one of the threads on here! I've already spoken to them on the phone [emoji16] so will sort out Coco's insurance tonight (I'm still reading through the terms & conditions its so long [emoji849]) then get him registered up there! I'm no longer going to pdsa!

Excellent news! Sorting out insurance is a real pain. Make sure you get Lifetime cover.

What does vet fees limit mean and vet fees excess?

Coco is now insured. Can I register with any rabbit savvy vet now? Or do they tell you where to go? Thanks for all your help!

You can register anywhere you like :)

Remember that most policies will exclude treatment for health issues for the first 14 days.

I just wanted to let you all know here instead of starting a new thread, Coco is fine, didn't take him long to get back to his normal self. Turns out the spot on his eye was something to do with the infection he had, he's back to eating his pellets, hay & greens also peeing and pooping fine. He's 5 months now, coming up to time to get nurtured! I really want to get him done now, so after christmas we can welcome a new bun into our family! He is having a chill out day today! I think the fireworks are annoying him!
We took the blanket out to wash because he has been treated for fleas and mites, so he's currently got straw down.
