Does anyone know if I can get prescription for vaccines and inject them myself for cheaper? I’m very frustrated at hearing how much more expensive vaccines are where I live compared to some places. I just want to protect the bunnies but every penny counts at the moment. Just paid for 6 rescue rabbits to get both and booked another 1 in for a spay and 2 have just come in needing vaccines and I need to do it as cheap as possible!
 
I don't think that's legal in the UK? Could be wrong.

It's quite common over here for cats and dogs (we don't have rabbit vaccines here), me and my dad do our cats shots.

It's simple enough and you can get your vet to show you how to do it. If it's legal in UK.
 
Multidose vials may be the way to go.

Did you try Calder Vets? They have a lot of branches, some must be pretty near you, they were about £14 for Filavac a while back that was about half the price of most vets in the area.

It ls legal but the animal has to be registered with the vet who is prescribing and there's some clause about health checks but I can't remember what. A lot of breeders are doing their stock this way supplied by Jason Burgess at Wood Vets in Gloucester, breeders are sharing vials etc but the vaccine needs to be used within 2 hours when mixed and stored at very precise temperature. It's suspected that a lot of reported vaccine fails are due to the details not being followed carefully enough. It's far too risky to contemplate, in my opinion.
 
Thanks for the advice, I agree that it is probably too risky. Can I get filavac done at one vet and then the nobivac at a different vet if they are cheaper at different vets?

Personally I am not a fan of 'Vet hopping' (no pun on 'hopping' intended :lol: ) as I want continuity of care for my Rabbits. But people do take their Rabbits to different Vets for vaccinations. You may be able to negotiate a discount with one Vet if you have multiple Vaccinations to obtain.

These bunnies you're rehoming? I'd take them wherever, I took mine to one place for RHD2 and another for the other vaccination, although now I tend to just go to my vet, but either is fine imo.
