  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have taken him to the vet, but they couldn’t come up with a diagnosis or definite treatment.they have given him antiparasites. But the frequency of the movements have increased. He isn’t eating, drinking or peeping, pooping. Please help

If he's not eating, drinking, peeing or pooping he needs to go to an emergency vet ASAP. This is critical, he'll need treatment for this, the sooner the better.

Apart from that, what are these movements your bunny is making?

I hope the vets can get him stable and you're then able to figure out what's going on with your rabbit.

Are you in the U.K. ? If so there will be an Emergency out of hours Vet to contact. It sounds as though your Vet has a neurological problem possibly caused by Encephalitozoon Cuniculi (EC)This can make a Rabbit feel very poorly and not eat. If a Rabbit stops eating their GI tract stops working - Gut Stasis. Gut stasis can become life threatening very quickly.

Your Rabbit will need supportive nursing care and additional medication if all that has been prescribed thus far is Fenbendazole ( the anti parasitic) .

Please try to get your Rabbit back to a Vet ASAP. Good luck.
