  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Biscuit has a sorely mouth :( U/D: Dental done. Going to get them at 15:40 :D

It's not stupid at all - frustration aws our thought, same as yuors?

I've had the same thoughts, so has my OH.

I've asked the vet - and he says its perfectly plausible.

However, after a dose of metacam this morning, he's been doing worse digging all day than he normally does

It would be nice if it was, but that said, with the new setup, the digging doesnt affect the house so much, so its not as concerning when he does dig. 2 litter trays in the dog crate downstairs and one in the office upstairs.

Oh haha, maybe not then!!

Dental booked for Friday, earliest i can afford it

(and before anyone says anything, he's on daily metacam for pain and i've asked about payment plans, but as my account is already quite badly loaded, they have denied this request - i feel like a **** owner as it is already, so if you want to bash me, please do so, if it will make you feel better, as i can't feel much worse)

Poor Biccy

He's still eating, but is slow at it and seems to be getting frustrated about it

*squish*

Good luck for Friday.

My vet often likes to wait and have the bunny on Metacam for a while to get them in peak condition for surgery, so if this is keeping him up and comfortable, then it's not an issue, in my eyes.

It's amazing how they keep eating isn't it? When Tinkerbell developed her jaw abscess I didn't become aware of it until it was very large and visible as she was still munching away!

Good luck with the dental and hopefully it will just be a one off xx

Vibes for my little man please?

This is his first ever dental, poor iccle man.

His eating has been 'ok' since being put onto daily metacam, but not great at all.

Appt is at 9:10am, so will have to start chasing him to get him in the carry case with Gingey in a bit.

My OH was in bits this morning, she's so scared!

I'm sure he'll be fine Gray, sending lots of vibes.

If its any consolation 2 of the 3 bunnies I took to the vets yesterday need close observation of their teeth and they are massive hay eaters, some buns are just unlucky and its all down to genetics. We had a locum vet and she is really facinated about dental bunnies, she spent ages explaining to me about how smaller jawed bunnies teeth move differently and don't wear down as well.
