  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Took Biccy for his nails to be cut yesterday and asked for him to be given a healthcheck while i was there.

So out came stethescope etc.

All fine...except his mouth :(

Vet said the back of his tongue is very sore and red and inflamed. He has a couple of spurs that need sorting.

He's now on daily metacam, same as Ginger 0.6ml/day until next week when he'll have his teef done.

My poor little man!

First time ever, poor iccle man. He's only just had his first birthday

Hopefully it will be a once a year type thing and he's not developing bad teeth. Dont think i could handle any more dentals!

Oh bless him, Its just as well you asked for a health check. Hope it goes ok when he has his visit to the "Dentist". Lots of vibes from Bells and Jakes.

Aww poor Biccy! :(
He is a strong little fella so he will be fine but will still send some vibes from all of us here!

ouchy!

i wish i could keep mine going for a while when a dental is needed. eric tends to need it done the day his mouth feels odd.

wishes to biscuit

arr poor biscuit i hope everything goes okay for him and that his mouth heals nicely wishing you all the best

This may be a stupid thought but i wonder if this has any relation to his digging.

It's not stupid at all - frustration aws our thought, same as yuors?

I've had the same thoughts, so has my OH.

I've asked the vet - and he says its perfectly plausible.

However, after a dose of metacam this morning, he's been doing worse digging all day than he normally does

It would be nice if it was, but that said, with the new setup, the digging doesnt affect the house so much, so its not as concerning when he does dig. 2 litter trays in the dog crate downstairs and one in the office upstairs.

i know when matts not right because he starts to dig the trays and megazorb, the curtains and the carpet! more than normal anyway!

poor biscuit. hope he feels better soon and his dental goes well. :)
