  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Atticus very ill :(

Poor Atticus! I hope you can get him sorted soon, was it the fireworks that have upset him?
Almost certainly, there seems to be a link between stress and his episodes :( Idk why really but it's always either fur or stress which triggers him, his moults over now.

I recall reading that stress impacts acidity of gi system-not sure if more alkaline-and that messes with bacterial balance and gas. Prebiotic may help if he can tolerate.

So sorry to read that Atticus is having another flare up.
Sending loads of vibes from everybun here. Hope he has a comfortable night and starts to feel better quickly. Xx

Thanks everyone for the support x

Rather disgusting, but he's managed to pass something really large and solid [emoji51] and is now passing more normal poops again, is nibbling again, and is getting springy again :)

This time, we went in hard with the medication right away, and I think it helped tbh. High dosages, given quickly seems to be the key? Could be a fluke but he seems to respond to a more aggressive treatment plan rather than what's normally given for gut stasis episodes ime.

This poop is completely solid [emoji51] poor Atticus [emoji51] I'm honestly so done with megacolon [emoji21]
