Have you tried Pro Fibre for him weedug? Only I've found it useful with poorly buns as it seem to help them absorb the goodness from their other food sources easier. I don't know the science behind it, just that its really helped all the low weight buns I've ever had.

Yes, we use Oxbow bunny basics and have done for years. Started to use it when we had a none-hay eating bun and he had lovely gold poops eating it. I also feed some of the pro-fibre as treats.

I also use oxbow. It fits in treatballs really well and is Timothy hay based not alfalfa so seemed a good choice
