Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Aloe vera

Anyone know if it's safe to use with bunnies?

I am struggling to manage with my bunnies' delicate tummies (inflammation from EC), and am trying to find a long term solution here. Aloe vera is certainly very good for human digestive systems, and I have some animal aloe vera gel here. I also have some aloe vera juice that I take myself when my stomach plays up.

Not about to try to take some mad risk here, but I do wonder if it's a possibility...

I have tried a minute amount of aloe vera with Clover tonight. I am getting really desperate with her. :(

Well aloe vera isn't poisonous at least. I have a plant, and used it once today as Sasuke's got sore feet:cry: So I rubbed his scars with aloe vera (do that a lot on my own scars). A while later I spotted him licking his feet:roll:

I bought the book I mentioned earlier in the thread - I didn't just try it without checking! ;)

OK I am really confused now. I am seriously getting desperate with my 2 bunnies' tummies, and was getting ready to try Aloe Vera, as per the book. But I just Googled out of interest, and came up with a couple of sites saying that it was poisonous for bunnies! Time to hit my head against a wall I think. :? :(
