  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

when i went to check on my bun's yday evening i saw that the youngest one (lulu) was limping. i check her out and she isnt using her front right leg at all. Everything is closed today because its national holiday here. Is there anything i should check for. She is still limping this morning and i am a little worried. i know how she did it, they have a run outside and she squeeses through the bars using her front to legs to pull her. Any advice would be welcome. she is eating and drinking, but a bit subdued.

Cait:cry:

She really does need to see a vet. Dont carry her and confine her space until you can get her checked out. If she has broken her leg or damaged her spine, movement can aggravate the injury. Make sure she keeps eating and pooing and that she is at a comfortable temperature.

Do take her to a vet. Inky had similar symptoms earlier this year and he had broken a toe and dislocated another. I felt so guilty for letting him limp for at least a day before I took him to the vets.

They can actually do quite a lot for broken bones it seems. Once his toes were straightened out, he was loads better and just had to rest for a couple of weeks. He did heal slightly wonkey(try telling him he can't jump) but he isn't in any pain and has full mobility.
