  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

vhd + myxi

I am going to book Honey and Harley in for there first vhd and myxi injections as they are moving outside in about a months time, Can i get both injections done at the same time, Will i need to ask the vets any questions and anyone got any idea how much it will cost.
Think thats all:D

I had a £10.00 discount when I had both mine in for their jabs earlier this month. It meant I had to pay for the VHD 2 weeks before they had it done, but I reckoned the discount was pretty good. My friend, who uses a vet in the next town, was also offered the option of paying up front and getting a discount so perhaps there's a drive on at the moment to encourage more folk to vaccinate their bunnies against VHD.

Yes it is best to get them done separately - 2 weeks apart.
Ask your vet about giving the myxi injection 10% intradermally (usually 10% in the base of the ear), otherwise the vaccination wont be as effective. :D
