The help line has just received a call from a member of the public who has been renting his home to a young lady who has just left his property. Left in the house are 79 mini lops housed in 60 cages. Ages range from 6 weeks to 3 1/2 years. Feeding them is costing the caller a small fortune, and his greatest concern is that they need re-homing as soon as possible. The RWA have given him the telephone numbers of all the rescues in Oxfordshire who might be able to help, but as we know most rescues are full. Rabbit Re-home has also been asked to help by publishing the details.
If you know of anyone looking for a bunny and can help in any way, please contact Ben Preston on 01235 224790 or the RWA help line. We have suggested that Ben contacts his local newspaper to ask them to run an appeal. Sadly if we cannot get these animals homed, the majority will have to be put to sleep. Do you know of a rescue shelter close to you that could help by taking on just a couple and would you be willing to transport the bunnies from Oxforshire? If so, please contact Ben.
