  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Cost for Spaying

Hi, can anyone tell me the average cost for spaying a bunny? I'm new to this and am taking her to the vets for her vaccinations and want to ask about spaying, but don't want to be ripped off on the cost as I believe it does vary. I live in Lancs so if anyone knows a good bunny vet, please say!

The best thing for you to do is to ring around vets locally and ask them, hopefully someone on here will know of a good vet close to you :)

It seems to be cheaper up North :D

My vets is £34.95 for a spay, which is very good. I get 10% bulk discount off that too :D

My local vet has quoted £67 which they say includes £40 for the spay and £27 for the drugs used! Does £34.95 include everything?

Yup - pre op check up, Op, drugs, 3 day-check up & stitch removal at 10 days (if they use non-dissolvable - depends what you request/which vet you get). I had problems after Spice's spay, & she went back for several consultations & nurse visits, but I never got charged any extra. They are Rabbit savvy vets too. :D

the cost for neutering for my male was £75...that was 4 months ago. my last spaying cost over £100. if you have the trasport and the option ask around.
