  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spay and jabs at the same time?

Also meant to to ask when Ruby has her Spay, the vet said he'll give her her VHD jab whilst she's there to save me going back?

Will that be okay do you think? Just a bit worried she'll feel really under the weather and then will have a needle stuck in her, poor thing.

Thanks

I do not agree and neither does my Vet!!
For a vaccination to take effect an 'immune response' from Bun is needed.
Having a GA is likely to effect this response and thus reduce or negate the vaccination's effect.
I would wait at least a week after the spay, preferably 2 weeks.

Thanks Jane, I've been thinking about it and I'm not happy either. I've decided to postpon her spay, get all their vhd jabs done next week and book her in for her spay in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

When I had my two bunnies, neither were vaccinated (that know too anyway) or spayed/neutered.

I too enquired about best way to go about it, and vets recommended not to be done at the same time.
