Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

possible pregnant rabbit question

Quick question can a 12 week old female rabbit get pregnant?
This is not for me but someone on another forum I use brought two rabbits 3 weeks ago one male one female the petshop owner told her they are 12 weeks old and can't mate. She has now had the male neutered I know he could get her pregnant for about 4-6 weeks. But she wants to know what are the chances the female is pregnant already.

I want to answer her but I am unsure of the facts.

Thanks
Tracey

I think it's possible from 10 weeks - if the boy was sexually mature enough to be neutered, he was definitely capable of fathering babies. However females take a bit longer to mature, so although there's a chance she could be pregnant, your mate might get lucky this time.

It is possible. I've heard of it happening before, although not that often. The best thing your friend can do is get the girl to a vet who should be able to tell. The vet might be able to do an emergency spay, even though she is young.
